Today while enjoying the glorious spring weather in my garden I was treated to a concert by a Silvereye (race familiaris). Its mimicry included: Red-whiskered Bulbul Indian Myna Brown Thornbill Dusky Woodswallow Reed-warbler (I'm sure there were more but the soft singing was partly drowned out by the incessant sound of the cicadas) All this was achieved while it actively fed from the extra-floral nectar glands of a Cedar Wattle (Acacia elata). Nothing unusual in Silvereyes mimicking but I thought I would share it here as, despite its apparent preference for the calls of introduced species, it was a joy to listen to.
