While driving home from Newcastle this afternoon(3/10) on the F3,.just south of Wyong Creek, I spied a suspicious road kill which looked remarkably like a Masked Owl. After a hurried stop in the break down lane , I walked back the several 100 metres to discover it was indeed a relatively freshly killed Masked Owl.

It is now residing in my(spare) freezer as I want to show it to Alan Morris when he returns from his current trip.

Masked Owl are reported reasonably frequently on the Central Coast but heard more often than seen. It may be a first record for the Wyong Shire but only Alan Morris can confirm that.
