I've heard good reports of the Gerber range of bins. I know that Birds
Australia carries them (sorry - the Birding shop, which I believe is a separate
entity). Not sure of the price range, but they are certainly in the budget end
of the market. They aren't going to measure up to top class optics but all the
review sites stress one point: you really do get what you pay for.
There are loads of good review sites and I'd look there first, despite the
problem of them all being UK / USA based. Many of the models reviewed are
available in Australia, and a bit of a web search should allow you to compare
prices.

"Better View Desired" was the clasic optics info site but I can't find it
