Hi all
We witnessed a similar incident at Tinchi Tamba (Brisbane
northside)a few months ago at 6am on a Sunday morning. A couple had gone
fishing at 5am and had been only a couple of hundred meters from the last
car park (ie not the one at the boat ramp) They had just arrived back at
their car at 6.30, when we arrived, to find a window smashed and belongings
stolen. I now park at the boat ramp car park, 100 meters before the other
car park, as it is more active and has more 'traffic'.

When I pulled up at the car park alongside Boondall Wetlands Information
Centre yesterday afternoon, there was just one car already there. It was a
maroon Ford Falcon, a big old XD, with the bonnet up. Before we headed off
towards the hide, I asked the young man standing alongside it if things were
ok, or if he could use any help. He answered with a smile "No thanks mate,
just letting it cool down a bit". There was a young lady standing nearby.
They weren't birders.

It seems predictable now, but when we got back, maybe 30 minutes later, we
found the front passenger window on my car smashed, and the other car gone.
My passenger lost her handbag, passport, airline tickets, credit cards,
other valuables etc.

We all know these things happen, but it's a first for me, and for what it's
worth I just want to let other birders know where it occurred.
