Good news !

Swamped by short-term concerns for Homo sapiens, I saw no
new report on the progress of this important Bill to
preserve more of the Box-Ironbark woodlands of central
Victoria, important for Regent Honeyeaters and Swift Parrots
amongst other species.

It passed ! Third reading in the Victorian State Parliament
upper house was on 18 October.

In the lower house my MP, Murray Thompson, mentioned yours
truly (in relation to the records I have collated showing
declines in the City of Bayside of Regent HE and Swifties)
and another local resident who worked on the book "Local
Birds of Bayside", Manfred Ruff. He and Anna now have a
property they let in the Box-Ironbark area.

Sorry if this sounds self-promoting. But we - the birding
community - did as well I reckon as we could have hoped.
Grey-crowned Babblers got a mention too in what was a
truncated debate following bipartisan agreement.

Hooray !
