I'm planning a trip to Chiltern NP in th next couple of weeks, and was hoping some of you could impart some knowledge about particular birds in the area. Unfortunately I was rash enough to have deleted relevant info from one of you in the recent past. Having been lucky enough with the honeyeaters and parrots there in the past, I'm wondering about the best sites to see:
Spotted quail-thrush
Chestnut-rumped heathwren
& Painted button-quail

And does anyone know if the Powerful owls that were breeding there about 10 years ago are still using the site? Always worth another look, no?

Incidentally, I saw another Sparrowhawk in suburban Melbourne last week, this time in Prahran. More drought diaspora, or an independently increasing presence?

Thanks in advance,

Iain
