Anthea,

The Ground-thrush on Tamborine Mountain most likely would  have been a
Russet-tailed. I lived on Tamborine Mountain for 22 years and never recorded
the Bassian there. The Russet-tailed was fairly rare on Tamborine during my
time there, appearing during the cooler months in very small numbers in some
years. The Bassian in SE Qld is a high altitude species. You really don't
find it until you get to the altitude of O'Reilly's and above (about 850
metres ). Below that you get the Russet-tailed. Tamborine is about 500
metres altitude (from memory).
