Hi all,
This afternoon I had great views of a Noisy Pitta in Irrawong Reserve on
Sydney's Northern Beaches.
My thanks to Kerry Smith who, I understand, found the bird and to Marita
Macrae who phoned and told me about Kerry's sighting.

While looking for the Pitta, John Gale told me he recently saw Baillon's
Crakes in the marshy area at the beginning of the Warriewood boardwalk at
the Katoa Close end. I looked for them without any luck.

Both Irrawong Reserve and the boardwalk are in Warriewood Wetland in the
suburb of Warriewood. Irrawong Reserve is a small patch of rainforest at the
western end of Irrawong Rd. about 400m. from the round about where Irrawong
Rd. meets Garden St. At it's western end Irrawong Rd. takes a left hand turn
and then promptly finishes, the track leading in to the reserve is on the
outside of this bend. Walk in about 60m. towards a waterfall until you see a
small semi-clear space with monkey vines and Lantana on the R.H. side of the
track. That's where I saw the bird.

The latest on the Red Hill Emu is that the Sydney Wildlife Preservation
Society have impounded the bird and it's chicks.
