Hi Birders,

Just an update on the Ash Island Northern Shoveler, which was seen this morning at 7.07 am by Robert Quinan and myself on the Railway Pond, ie the pond on the other side of the railway line at Ash Island where we understand it was first seen. The bird was on the far side (eastern side)  of the pond but readily seen with the telescope from the mound this side of the railway line, so you don't actually have to cross the line, at the point which is near the north-east corner of the Swan Pond. The bird was associating with other Shovelers but with no particular female shoveler. This is my 644th Australian Bird. Thankyou to those poeple who saw and reported the bird to Birding-aus.
