Some threatened species news from Victoria for list members.

The following taxa, community and potentially threatening process are among a
batch ot items that have recently been listed under the Victorian Flora and
Fauna Guarantee Act.

Each item has a short Recommendation Report which explains how the item meets
the criteria for listing under the Act.

Copies of the reports are available from me and those interested should provide
a mailing address as well as the items they are interested in.

Acanthiza iredalei hedleyi, Slender-billed Thornbill
Calidris tenuirostris, Great Knot
Coracina maxima, Ground Cuckoo-Shrike
Heteroscelus brevipes, Grey-tailed Tattler
Pyrrholaemus brunneus, Redthroat
Rostratula benghalensis, Painted Snipe

Victorian Mallee bird community.

Threats to native flora and fauna arising from the use by the feral honeybee
Apis mellifera of nesting hollows and floral resources.

The next step in addressing the conservation of the threatened taxa is to
produce an Action Statement (management plan) for each item.

cheers
