GREY FALCON
From the Cairns Esplanade, on Sun 9th June in the late pm, David Anderson and I watched an immature Grey Falcon being sent packing by the local pair of Peregrines which are again nesting on the Matson Plaza. The Grey was desperate to gain height as the Peregrines powered up to the attack. Two or three warning passes from the Peregines was all it took for the intruder to get the message. The Grey was seen again from the north coast road on the following Tues by Ben Blewitt.
Grey Flacons are reported most winters from the CNS-Atherton-Carbine area but John Crowhurst tells me this is a first for the CNS Esplanade, the centre of the Avifaunal Universe.
