Hi Birders,
The final counts have been received from the 32 observers who searched 35 sites on the Central Coast 24-28 May 2002 and there have been some good figures for Swift Parrots and some Regent Honeyeaters were found.
Swift Parrots
200+ around Murray St Bateau Bay in about a 400m radius (Alan & Tim Morris)
50+ Sutton Reserve & nearby Wyrrabalong NP at Bateau Bay (Ern Dunkley & Joan Adams)
5+ Wyrrabalong NP-Bateau Bay North-Blue Lagoon (Ern Dunkley & Joan Adams)
120-130 Keats Ave Bateau Bay (previously reported in error as 70+) Bruce Hulbert
10 Carrack Res Kincumber (Robert Quinnan)
20+ Ettymalong Ck Umina (Debbie Andrew)
2 Church Road Res Tuggerah (Alan Morris)
35+ Budgewoi Shopping Centre cnr Scenic Rd & Alawai St (Tim & Alan Morris)
1 South Toukley wetland (Peter Cowper)
Note that the Bateau Bay and Budgewoi birds were readily seen today and that an injured Swift Parrot was  found on Scenic Drive Budgewoi and taken into care by WIRES.
Regent Honeyeater
11-15 Wyee Point west (Don & Val Moon)
3+ Galgaba Point Reserve, South Swansea
Note that at least 4+ Regents were seen at Wyee Point today (29/5).
Many members of the Central Coast Group, Birding NSW who did not see the Swift Parrots on their survey sites have had good views of the real thing (for many their first ever sightings) at 3 Murray St Bateau Bay  and have been to see the Regents at Wyee Point in the past 5 days!
