In the USA, I am told they have this procedure:

I mean only delicately to ask you this, but does any
group there in Australia collect specimen skins? re:
the deceased ones?

I take all mine (freezing until the trip of course) to
the Slater Museum of Natural History?

All are wrapped in paper towel or newspaper, then put
into plastic bag with place found, date of decease,
specie, etc on them. You could use a business card so
the rehabber could be reached if needed?
