Swift Parrots were present at the You Yangs Regional Park (60 kms south-west of Melbourne) on Saturday 4 May.  We saw at least 5 in flowering eucalypts near Hovell's Creek.  The only previous occasion I have seen them at the You Yangs was about 10 years ago near the main entrance to the park.
Also of some interest in the same area were two actively attended Diamond Firetail nests, a small party of Black-chinned Honeyeaters, several Crested Shrike-tits, and several Restless Flycatchers.

PS  When I attempted to send this message my email program sent me a "Mood message" warning me that the message above "is likely to offend the average reader" and that I might like to consider "toning it down".  So, for those of you who are average readers, please delete Shrike-tit and replace it with Shrike-bosom or Shrike-breast, whichever you find less offensive (or more comforting).
