Location Lake Samsonvale, Samsonvale section
On the 04.04.02. two birds died for no obvious reason, both legs missing
from the knees down, either torn off or chewed off. No flesh eaten.

On a mudflat away from the water with a sandbank night roost for
pelicans nearby.
Possibilities rat,turtle,eel,pig,wild dog and humans
Over the years I've seen the odd pelican like this but never two
Reported to the Q.L.D. Musuem.with two photos expecting a reply in the
next few days
Rangers are checking other roosts by boat
A theory from the Griffith Uni.
Caught in a net, the legs off to release the bird, allowed to fly away
inland. Suggest a post Mortem re water in the lungs. Death from this
or starvation
Will keep up with any development
