I've been asked to continue to provide reports on the Laughing Gull on
Bribie Island so will send the occasional status update (unless a request
for info is made on a specific day). It has also been suggested that these
reports would be shorter without the Scoopy's content. So here goes, with
absolutely no mention of the wonderful steak sandwich I had there at
lunchtime today.
The Laughing Gull was just north of the Bongaree jetty at 11.45 am today,
Saturday. It was on the beach just to the south of the jetty at 1.15 pm
(I'm not sure if it had been on view continuously as you can't see the beach
from the tables at Scoopy's). At about 2.30 pm, whilst I was interrogating
the terns on the sand spit off Buckley's Hole, the gull appeared directly in
front of me. At 3.15 pm a Whistling Kite put everything up and I left.
Noticeable today was that on both wings, three primaries were clearly tipped
white.
Cheers - Trevor Ford.
