I am heading to the Cairns / Mossman area, from the Gold Coast, during late
April and May. I will have five weeks this time to travel, visit friends
and sight see. We will be towing our small caravan. "We" means my wife,
myself and our Chihuahua who doesn't realise he is not a human. Obviously,
National Parks are off the agenda.
Unfortunately, I have just been informed that my birding days are virtually
over as anything other than very short walks and very short periods of
standing will render me a complete cripple in the foreseeable future.
What I would like to do during this trip would be to put faces to a number
of the names that I correspond with. In light of this, anyone who lives
along the coast of Queensland, extending to the Atherton Tablelands, and
thinks they can put up with meeting me (quite an experience!) could forward
me their contact details (telephone, address, etc). With any luck on your
part, you will be away when I come through your way (start making the
arrangements now) and we will miss each other but if you're willing to take
the chance so am I.
We don't intend to travel any more than 300 km a day and will have a full
day off after two days travel so any places where birding can be done from
the car or from a chair after a very short walk will be appreciated.
