Hi All,
I went out to Scott Conservation Park (via Mount Compass in South Australia)
for the first time on the weekend. My first time out with my new set of
binoculars as well. There were alot of juvenile birds about including
Crimson Rosella, Scarlet Robin, Grey Fantail, Red-browed Finch, Grey Shrike
Thrush, Rufous Whistler and Tree Martin. I saw many of these around a fairly
shallow dam/water hole about 1km into the walk. At the same dam there were
alot of White-naped Honeyeaters including one with four bands on its legs
(I'm pretty sure they were an orange and a blue on the right and a metal and
a red on the left). Does anyone know who has been banding White-naped
Honeyeaters? I've never seen leg bands on one before.
I also had my first good look at an Elegant Parrot (plopped down for a drink
about a metre in front of the bush I was ineffectually hiding behind) and my
first Crested Shrike-tit in South Australia.
