Hello All,
All the best for 2002. I thought that some of the group members may be
interested in the following. Here in Norway it is a tradition to send up
rockets as we enter the New Year. It was reported in a national paper
yesterday about a family that were stood in their garden watching the
fireworks. Suddenly they heard a thud in the snow, and on looking, where
shocked to find a dead grouse. I say grouse as it was impossible to tell
from the photo in the paper if the bird was a Willow Grouse or a Ptarmigan.

The bird was burnt on its back and neck and no doubt was killed instantly.
Has anybody else on the group heard of a rocket striking a bird in flight?
One thing is for sure. It was not the best start for the New Year for the
grouse that was involved.

All the best,
Eddie Chapman. Voss. Norway.
