Greetings. Some months ago I mentioned a slightly buggy American online facility for converting between grid references and geographical coordinates (lat/lon), something many of us need to do when recording locational data in UTM format and wanting to convert it to lat/lon for the Birds Australia and other observation data sheets.

Geoscience Australia (formerly AUSLIG) has revamped and greatly improved its web site; speeded it up dramatically; and included tools for making these conversions. They are at:
  http://www.auslig.gov.au/geodesy/datums/redfearn_grid_to_geo.htm and
  http://www.auslig.gov.au/geodesy/datums/redfearn_geo_to_grid.htm .

A fine service from Geoscience Australia.

David
