Greetings

After much thought and consideration I have finally put together the dates for the six  2002 Newcastle Pelagic Trips.  They are:

1) Sunday Feb 17th.  Nelson Bay.  The boat is at Nelson Bay with the game fishing season so the only date available is a Sunday.  This year we will travel N/E from the bay and get to a point east of about Seal Rocks, looking for those summer birds. Cost $70.

2)Saturday March 23rd. Swansea.  Our March trip was cancelled last year, so this will be the first trip from Newcastle at this time of year.  One of the best months of the year for summer birds. $70

3)Saturday July 20th Swansea. Our only winter trip of the year. $70

4)Saturday September 14th Swansea. The second best month of the year for pelagic birds, with the winter birds still around, spring arrivals and early summer birds make Sept a great month. $70

5)Saturday October 12th.(SPECIAL TRIP)Swansea. The best month of the year for pelagic birds.  This month has by far the highest number of species recorded off NSW and also by far the greatest occurrence of seabird rarities.  This trip will cost $80 and leave at 6am.  The extra cost will allow us to travel 90km offshore in search of rarities.

6)Saturday November 16th. Swansea. The last trip of 2002 and also a good month for pelagic birds.

The trips are as per last year, with first in-first on board. I will run a reserves list like in previous years and the location, time(7am) and boat are the same. (Morning tea, Lunch supplied) Guide (Phil Hansbro). ALL trips are NON-profit.

Regards

Richard Baxter
