This record is about a week old, sorry.
Don Greaves reported a single Black Falcon flying low flat and fast in
between Geelong Grammar School and the old Corio Tip (around about Fri 9
November I think).
There have been a few records of this species around the northern outskirts
of Geelong in the last few years - I'm not sure about historical records
though.
He also found a single Crested Pigeon on campus a couple of months ago - the
bird stayed around for a while then went missing. Now he reports TWO CPs in
the same place. This species seems to be more frequently reported in the
Geelong area in the last few years. Don's reports are the first confirmed
ones for CP at the GGS campus (on the shores of Corio Bay, just north of the
city). There is a very old record - Lester (?) in the 60s or 70s but this
recorder later assumed it to be of a Spotted Turtledove as it wasn't seen
clearly.
