G'day All,

I went for an early morning stroll this am, due to yet
again a car wrapping itself around a tree close to
where I live? it's strange you know how it's the car
and never the young buck car driver eh?

So I took my binoculars for a walk.

Anyway walking on I noticed a good sized gathering of
Australian White Ibis (18 in total), 3 White-faced
Heron and one only, lonely, Cattle Egret. They were
all in an area the size of a soccer pitch doing some
"grass fishing". I watched them for quite a while and
noticed the Ibis and Heron were worming and searching
for food BUT the Egret seemed to be gaining fresh
moisture from the blades of grass? I've never seen all
three of these
birds together in the one place here and was wondering
does it happen elsewhere? anyone like to comment on
this please.

Waandering on I noticed the local Hastings Pelicans
have raised 2 or more young and one has unusual
colouring? I'll try and get some decent photo's to
show what I mean, perhaps Russell might let me send
them out as christmas cards to this list?

All the different gull species we get here seem to be
present and correct.

Up in town close to the Morn. Pen. Council buildings
the Galah, Rainbow Lorikeet and Sulphur Crested
Cockatoo familes were all busy feeding and munching
merrily away. Margaret Bell Miners and Mynahs all busy
feeding there young.

The local Magpie families seem to have excelled
themselves this year, 2 of the four families having
raised three young the other families have each got 2
very young and very noisy, constantly crying and
demanding young ones included.

Magpie Larks are busy watching all that's going on,
they too seem to be up in numbers this year, well
locally at least.

Welcome Swallows around the Marina Complex itself are
easily visible, it very fails to amaze me how clever
they are at nest building, I must get their magic glue
recipe from them one day :^D

Aaaaaah it's spring ........ take care out there
please, JAG
