All,

Stephen Kaye and myself picked up a tidy 106 species this morning in the Windsor area (50kms west of Sydney). Highlights as follows:

McGraths Hill (56 species)

Azure Kingfisher perched in reeds bordering the main flooded area, 5 Baillon's Crakes sunning themselves on the edges of the reeds in the same area, as well as
2 Spotted Crakes and a very brief view of what we thought was probably Spotless, although we didn't get a good view. 2 Glossy Ibis also around the main flooded area
as well as White-Necked Heron (not that common here). Also of interest was Horsefield's Bronze-Cuckoo on a post in the field over the back of the wetland, as well as 2 Zebra Finches, and Nutmeg Mannikins. Also in the area was a White-Bellied Sea-Eagle which flew overhead and a Crested Shrike-Tit in the trees bordering the main track to the wetland.

Pitt Town Lagoon (27 species)

White-Winged Triller, seen in the trees just near the wooden bridge, 2 Pink-Eared Ducks plus 1 Marsh Sandpiper, 25 Red Kneed Dotterals, 45 Sharp-Tailed Sandpipers, 20 Red Necked Stints, 1 Yellow Spoonbill, 4 Royal Spoonbills, and 4 Shoveler seen on the lagoon. Also saw the usual Chestnut-Breated Mannikins + Nutmeg Mannikin flock. No sign of the reported Pectoral or Wood Sanpiper.

Mitchell Park (38 species)

Some great woodland birds seen here this morning including Leaden Flycatcher (common), White-Throated Gerygone, Brush and Fantail Cuckoo, Yellow-Tufted Honeyeater, Scarlet Honeyeaters, Peaceful Dove, Sacred Kingfisher, Bassian Thrush (rainforest section bordering river).

Cheers
Simon.
