Dear Birding-Ausers,

Last Sunday afternoon, unlike "farias", we were able to see the Painted Snipe in
its usual spot. This was a bit more difficult as the "little pond" is actually
part of the stormwater system. Consequently, after Melbourne's weekend rain,
the water level was a lot higher.

Despite this, the snipe was still hiding in the longer grass on the
(south-western ?) edge and was spotted by a couple of keen (and fairly wet)
birders just before we arrived. Subsequently, we had pretty good looks.

After that, we presumed that it will probably continue to hang around as it
obviously likes this spot.

By the way, I lost the green cover of my Kowa scope as we were leaving. I was
hoping some later birder might have picked it up as I couldn't find it when I
returned an hour or so later. If anyone did, I would be delighted if they could
contact me.

Thanks

Chris
