Hello birders,

Bob Way, Bruce Cox and I have just returned from a birding trip to
Western Australia. Over the period from 17 October to 1 November we
travelled the south west in the area roughly Perth - Albany - Augusta -
Perth, then up the coast to Monkey Mia and Carnarvon and back to Perth.

The highlight of the trip was a Red-necked Phalarope in non-breeding
plumage seen on Government House Lake on Rottnest Island on 1 November.

We managed to tick all the south-western endemics, with the exception of
the "Western" Shrike-Tit. We saw the "big three" near Little Beach in
Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve, though the only sighting of the Noisy
Scrub Bird was a one second glimpse as it darted across the track at
Frank O'Connor's preferred site.

I would be happy to supply further information about individual species
to anyone who is interested.

Regards,
Colin Scouler.
