For the third time since yesterday afternoon, the nest of the Willy
Wagtails is empty. The birds though were around this time, including pne
smaller bird that was seated right above the nest. There were atleast 3
birds that I could see in the place, and probably one more in the tree.
All of these birds have fairly well-developed plumage, though two of them
are much smaller. Is it usual for adolescent birds to hang around their
parents for a while? This time, unlike the first time I saw four birds,
they weren't annoyed. They were singing (flattering someone) loud enough
for me to hear from way off. Two of the birds were in the tennis court
next to the nest, but these were larger birds, and it was a larger bird
that was sitting in the nest yesterday morning.

Home is so sad. It stays as it was left,
Shaped to the comfort of the last to go
As if to win them back. Instead, bereft
Of anyone to please, it withers so,
Having no heart to put aside the theft

And turn again to what it started as,
A joyous shot at how things ought to be,
Long fallen wide. You can see how it was:
Look at the pictures and the cutlery.
The music in the piano stool. That vase.
