Hi All

In one of the above committee's regular determination notices published in the
Sydney Morning Herald 5/10/01 the following
were included:

Vulnerable Species (Schedule 2)
Antipodean Albatross Diomedea antipodensis Robertson & Warham 1992
Gibson's Albatross Diomedea gibsoni Robertson & Warham 1992

The Committee is of the opinion that these species are likely to become
endangered unless the circumstances and factors
threatening their survival or evolutionary development cease to operate.

Endangered Species (Part 1 of Schedule 1)
Southern Giant Petrel Macronectes giganteus Gmelin 1789
The Committee is of the opinion that these species are likely to become
exteinct in nature in NSW unless the circumstances
and factors threatening their survival or evolutionary development cease to
operate.

Schedules refer to the schedules to the Threatened Species Conservation Act.

These were interesting because the determinations usually refer to plants,
occasionally to animals such as reptiles, but
birds aren't often seen in these ads.

It's also noted that the two albatrosses are presented as species in their own
right, rather than sub-species.

Cheers and Happy Times with Nature
