Hi everyone,

I, Kazumi TERADA, just join to BIRDING-AU ML from Japan,
because I have planned to join a bird-watching tour in Cairns
on Oct. 19 - 21, 2001 with following schedule, and want to
have some information of bird-watching in or near Cairns.

Oct. 19, AM (half day): Botanic garden and a seaside
Oct. 19, PM (half day): Free time
Oct. 20 (full day): Daintree National Park
Oct. 21 (full day): Atherton Tableland

I have no plan of bird-watching during the free time.
If you have good ideas, please let me know.

Michaelmas Cay was planned, but gave up, because there
was no half-day tours and no charter boats with reasonable
price.
17 persons wants to visit to Micaelmas Cay for bird-watching.

How about the mangroves in Cairns or the Mt Whitfield spur
which are introduced in the book titled "Where to find birds
in Australia" as follows!

> If you have time, the mangroves at Ellie Point
> to the north and around Trinity Inlet to the south
> are well worth visiting for Dafter, Great-billed
> Heron, Black Bittern, Little Kingfisher, Collared
> Kingfisher, Mangrove Robin, ....

> For the more energetic there is a walking track
> running north-wards along the Mt Whitfield spur.
> It leaves from the corner of Collins Avenue and
> MacDonnell Street and for the first kilometer or
> so climbs steeply to a lookout offering fine views
> over Cairns and Trinity Bay.

Regards,
