Hi all

I had the pleasure of observing no less than 48 Freckled Ducks yesterday
afternoon at Ramco Lagoon, 8 km W of Waikerie SA.
Some of them I got quite close views of as they were sitting on the water's
edge, preening, sunbathing, squabbling. Very rewarding as I have spent quite
a few years trying to find the species in river Murray wetlands around here,
with little luck until recently. Older people that have been on the river
hunting or fishing tell me they used to see them occasionally but not any
longer (usually followed by a whinge session)
It must have been a good breeding season for these frecklers!

Regards

Peter Waanders
