Crested Pigeons are quite common around where I live in Murray Bridge.

In recent years we have had a sharp increase in numbers. Previously one would see twos and threes but now I am observing flocks of them.

Yesterday I counted a loose flock of 35 sitting on an electricity wire near our place. Several months ago I saw a flock of 25 land on one television antenna on a house opposite where I work.

Much has been said about the increasing range of this species in places like Melbourne. Have numbers increased in other parts of Australia?

Happy birding,
