Sydney Gang Gangs

Hi everyone

The person who asked about the gang-gangs in sydney, and about specific nest information, is not someone known to me, or someone who has posted to birding-aus before. It might be a genuine request to see the birds or to study them - but we don't know ANYTHING about this person, who uses a hotmail account and could be anybody at all.

Sorry - I don't mean to appear unfriendly, but I don't think we should be giving out nest locations for species known to be lucrative in the wild bird trade. We should be particularly wary about birds that are marginalised in any given location or habitat.

I don't want to start a huge thread on this topic or the original request - could you please take the matter up with me personally if anyone has anything to discuss.

Of course, if one of our regular contributors knows Mary Hopson and can vouch for her, then please let us know. Even then, I'd be reluctant to see too many details (appear publicly on this mailing list) about how to find nests or eggs of some species, especially parrots.

Thanks

Russell
