A wintering boobook has turned up in our foreshore at long
last. On 10/7 there was one in a coast tea-tree much used as a
roost in the previous 5 years. It was seen in a nearby she-oak
on 13/7 and back in the tea-tree on 16/7.

This is the latest "first date" for the foreshore in 7 years
apart from 1997 when there were no records. But this year there
have been few wintering honeyeaters with no records in Bayside
of either Yellow-faced or White-naped....

A pity because alarm calls from White-plumed HEs are my best
guide to roosting owls. So it could have been there for months!
