Spring has almost sprung here in Gippsland. A Fan-tailed Cuckoo was calling
yesterday, the male Superb Fairy Wrens are in breeding plumage, and the
Magpies are nest building. There is a feeding frenzy in the Red Box trees,
with clouds of Honeyeaters, including the most Crescents I have ever seen.
Under the Tea Tree, Greenhood orchids are popping up everywhere, nutans,
concinna, and a good number of beautiful grandiflora, the Superb Greenhood.
After plenty of rain, the bush is a great place to be in just now. Duncan
Fraser. Maffra Vic.
