Hi All.

I have rabbited on about Red Hill, {one of my favourite birding locations,
close to home on Sydney's Northern Beaches] on several occasions now. In a
previous e-mail I said it was threatened by development and may also have
said that the Parks and Wildlife Association was conducting a biodiversity
survey on the Wheeler Creek portion to obtain sufficient evidence of
conservation value for it's inclusion into Garigal National Park. Wheeler
Creek is contiguous with Red Hill.

The 3 day survey took place on the weekend of 23rd. to 26th. March and
Judith Bennett, the person who organised the survey, has now put the
findings on the net I
think the web site is worth a visit, at least for Sydney birders. It shows
just what can be found in a bit of "junk bush" a few Ks. from Sydney's

I did not participate in the survey but did my bit by supplying a annotated
bird list accrued over 12 years of visits to the site. They did however have
birders on the job who managed to turn up several species that I did not
have on my list.

Give it a look, I think Judith Bennett and her volunteers did a great job.
