Another point of interest is the construction of off-shore wind
generators in Europe.  If memory serves correctly, there multi-megawatt
arrays being established in the north sea.  Fewer NIMBY problems, and
stronger & more reliable winds.

It would be interesting to know what the relative bird-strike risks for
on and off shore wind farms, and whether there is any data on pelagic
bird mortalities.
