A F Gotch, in his book "Birds - their Latin Names explained" suggests -
'The name probably refers to A. Richard (1794-1852) a botanist, and son of the 
famous botanist Prof L. C. M. Richard.'
The species was named by Gmelin.
It's not much - I hope it helps.
