Hello Bob and others,

Wouldn't you know it!!

A few minutes after I posted my previous comment on this topic my attention was
attracted to a commotion around the crown of the very large Camphor Laurel (!!)
Tree next door.
About 6 Pied Butcherbirds, a couple of Blue-faced Honeyeaters, several Torresian
Crows and a Spangled Drongo were darting in and out and around the tree in a
great state of agitation.
After a couple of minutes I was able to see the cause of the excitement......
Perched in the interior of the tree was a bird that, at first glance, looked
like 'my' Collared Sparrowhawk.
However I soon realized this one was different.
It was at least 50% larger than the 'usual' Sparrowhawk;
And it had a tail that was rounded rather than square as in the Collared
Sparrowhawk.

However, the tail also appeared to have a notch!

After a couple of minutes of constant harassment from the other birds the
goshawk flew off...... but out of the other side of the tree so I was unable to
see it in flight.

So, what was it?
Perhaps it was a Brown Sparrowhawk?
