Tony Bennett from Perth has recently reported a Masked Owl near Denmark on the south coast of Western Australia. I don't know the area very well but his directions were :

About 20km west of Denmark (on the western side of William Bay) there is a road signed to Parrys Inlet (or Parrys Point). Go to the car park at the end. This is near Point Hillier and Stanley Island. He saw the bird in the car park just before dusk (i.e. the light was fading but enough to get a good look at the bird from about 7 metres).

Masked Owl is a very uncommon bird in Western Australia (one that I am still looking for ....)
