Okay - I'll admit to being a sometime fan of a very under-rated ABC classic soapie "Something in the Air" (it returns March 3rd Yippee!)

During one episode last year I was amazed - then amused - when one of the characters (Mon) was visiting England trying to track down her family. As she was visiting her mother's grave, supposedly in an English cemetery, the sound track was quite clearly dominated by Rainbow Lorikeets, Australian Ravens and some other very Non-English type birds.

Dubbing in some English bird sounds would not have been too difficult a task one would have thought. Oh well, it was OUR ABC; one only gets what one pays for. Maybe with their budgetary restrictions they can't afford such sophisticated equipment anymore.

The contrast with the constant barrage of Aussie bird sounds on "Seachange" was startling, so someone at the ABC is on the ball.

Happy TV birding,

Trevor Hampel
