I have a non-controversial question in respect of Satin Bowerbirds.  I have been asked if male Satin Bowerbirds change eye color during the breeding season.  Specifically are the eyes blue outside of the breeding season and mauve/lilac during breeding.
I have observed many birds over the years and while there is some eye colour variation, I have not noticed if individual birds change colour or if it is related to breeding.

Any clues?

Cheers
