Can anyone shed any light on some apparent inconsistencies in the ditribution
of
Australian races of C.minutillus.Higgins, in HANZAB 4 gives the distribution of
nominate minutillus as nAust and of barnardi as se Qld.
Mason, in Schodde & Mason,1997, gives the distribution of nominate minutillus
as
extending only to "SE head of Gulf of Carpentaria (Normanton)" and inland to
"estuarine streams of south coast of Gulf of Carpentaria".
The distribution of barnardi is said to extend north to
"Fitzroy-Dawson-Mackenzie
Rivers Basin".

yet the detailed distribution map in Higgins clearly shows some race of
minutillus occurring on the east coast of Cape York around Iron Range; from
Cooktown south to Rockingham Bay; from Ingham south to lower Burdekin River;
and
from Bowen to south of Sarina. What subspecies does these records represent?

Thanks,
John Penhallurick
