Pelicans have fed this human!
On a stinking hot day on the upper Diamantina R. last year, three of us
went looking for a hole to have a dip. We frightened a few pelicans off
the ground below a small pool and as they took off, one dropped a nice
yellowbelly (golden perch, callop, call them what you will). We
recovered it and, judging it to be in excellent condition, took it back
to camp. It was beautiful baked!
