Hi all,
prior to Christmas there were a few messages re populations of Little and
Long-billed Corellas on the Bellarine Peninsula. Late yesterday afternoon,
a small group of 7 Little Corellas perched in an adjacent Norfolk Island
Pine at Home in Ocean Grove. The local Magpie Mob seemed to take offence at
this incursion and tried to move on the Corellas with little success. The
Corellas stayed until dusk then moved on.
On a more costal note, while sailboarding off Barwon Heads on Thursday,
noticed a group of Silver Gulls being harassed by what seemed to be a
Shearwater. As I didn't have my bins, ID was a bit difficult however the
bird in question was very dark above and below with no obvious markings,
tail seemed to be squared not pointed or triangular at all, wings were
tapered to a point and swept back slightly at the bend in the wing, and
overall just slightly larger in size and wingspan to the Silver Gulls. Any
thoughts?
