I have been told of sightings (yet to be confirmed by knowledgeable birdwatchers) of chestnut breasted mannikins in the Tamworth NSW district.   They were last seen in the week before Christmas apparently and the owner of the property unhesitatingly pointed them out to me in my bird book.  I'm told they regularly feed on long grass on my friend's property, and he will get in touch with me next time he sees them.
Does anyone know of other sightings of these birds in this part of NSW?
Cheers Annabel
