Well Denise, the number of species will depend on where you draw the
boundary for towns and cities - the numbers will vary greatly depending
on whether you are looking at CBD birds, or include inner metro, outer
metro, fringe suburbia.
In Brisbane's case, Moreton Island is within the boundaries of the City
of Brisbane [which also happens to be the largest local govt in
Australia], so Brisbane's bird list would be in the order of 200+
