The spread of guinea fowl

Hi all
Living in a small rural community where you can sometimes see peacocks
and guinea fowl wandering along public roads, I thought you might be
interested to know the "arguments" being used to persuade folk to buy
these birds.  At least in the case of guinea fowl, I've been told I
really should get some because-
1.  they keep snakes away; and
2.  they devour ticks and keep the numbers down.
I'll be sticking to my chooks (they certainly move snakes on and I'd be
surprised if they didn't eat ticks, too) and I'll be keeping them from
going feral.  Otherwise, we'll end up like NZ!!
