First swifts at Katoomba

Tonight at 7pm, a familiar shape moving across the sky caught my eye
through the window. I grabbed my binoculars and raced outside to see a
flock of about 30 White-throated Needletails moving in from the east. They
then circled in a tight spiral directly above my house for a few minutes
(as if making sure I knew they had arrived) before all flying off to the
west.

Hopefully the first of many this season.
