The following may only appeal to Sydney Birdo's.

With regards to the Little Bronze-cuckoo seen yesterday at Mitchell Park at Cattai in Sydney's North West (and as reported by Birdline NSW as at 14/11/00), would this be the 2nd record for them in Sydney? Another was seen by someone a few years ago also in the Hawkesbury (I think it was also in Cattai area) so this would not be the first for Sydney.

The call of this cuckoo is quite distinctive compared to the other cuckoo's - a quail like "fee..fee..fee..fee" and is similar (if not the same as) to the Gould's Bronze-cuckoo. These cuckoo's appear to be hard to come by in NSW judging by the no. of reports (though appear to be regular on the north NSW coast) and possibly extending their range south. It would be nice to see if a pair is about as there is plenty of White-throated Gerygones about in the area to parasitise which are a main host species.

Alot of interesting birds seem to be now out and about!

Edwin
