I have enjoyed reading Michaels reports on the Swift Parrots in Sandringham
and was interested to hear that they were feeding in Spotted Gums(Euc.
Maculata) For many years we regularly had Swift Parrots feeding in Spotted
Gums in Mt Eliza,( 55kms south of Melbourne.) They haven't been sighted for
2 years but given Michaels observations I will be monitoring the area for
possible sightings. Perhaps this is an argument for planting more flowering
eucalypts particularly on the coast as a food source prior to their
departure. Bett Mitchell.
